This website contains student projects from Spring 2026, HIS 1105 Making History: THe Asian American and Pacific Islander Experience. This class walked students through the process of making history, includng finding primary sources to interpreting photographs, newspaper and magazine articles. They then learned how to contextualize what they found in New Mexico newspapers in relation to the national history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as well as New Mexico territorial and/or state history. Each student created their own webpage featuring the primary sources they found and explaining why the events discussed in these sources contribute to the history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in New Mexico.
